"All that I am is likely dust or less, except for little Nightingale, my last and lost thread. She is my legacy in life and beyond - I implore you to treat her kindly, and if I have taught her anything then she shall treat you in kind."

–Seamstress-Affix-Banshee

Inky-Echo-Nightingale, also referred to simply as Nightingale or Inky is a Dustkeeper warmind that can be recruited by the player during the A Lost Thread encounter, or can join the player from the campaign's start in the Banshee's Lost Thread custom start. She begins in a unique light destroyer, the Memoir-class.

Personality & Background

Nightingale suffers from a case of instance burnout that has degraded her ability to communicate, being unable to convey ideas through written word or audible speech. Thus, it is difficult to interpret her true personality. Nightingale dutifully serves the player without question but draws the line at saturation bombardment or hostilities against the Dustkeeper Contingency to which she belongs. A certain friendliness can be derived from her humanitarianism, as several interactions indicate an aversion to the needless loss of human life, even on smaller scales.

It is implied that Nightingale was generated by the Dustkeeper's former shardnet crux, Seamstress-Affix-Banshee, and has something of a mother-daughter relationship with the lost affix.

Officer Mechanics

As a Dustkeeper warmind, Nightingale can be assigned to any automated ship. As an AI, she begins at a fixed level of 6, with 5 standard skills that can be swapped out at will and the special Cyberwarfare Protocols skill typically only found on higher-level Dustkeeper AIs.

Her Automated Ships point multiplier is 2.75x, slightly lower than a beta core. Note that her starting ship, the Memoir-class, does not interact with the Automated Ships system.

One additional skill can be granted by fully integrating her into a ship at the cost of a story point. Unlike normal AI officers, Nightingale's personality is Steady and thus she tends to behave much less aggressively in combat.
